The Director will be responsible for preventing illness and promoting health in order to improve the health and well-being of the Maltese population. The Director will provide leadership for health promotion to reduce/delay the onset of illness. He/she will be responsible for promoting healthy lifestyles amongst the population and working in partnership with other Ministries and external stakeholders to tackle the determinants of illness, particularly to reduce the disease burden caused by non-communicable disease. The Director will also be responsible for the prevention, field investigation and control of communicable diseases. The Director will ensure that services within the directorate are operating in line with the Ministry’s policy, strategy, regulations and standards.
